To the left you will find a school magazine from the school 'Top Terrace'; This magazine has clearly used different colours that are reflective of the schools colour scheme. Another aspect, I will maybe utilize is the alliterative title 'Top Terrace' which attracts the readers attention. Another aspect that this magazine has commonly used is the different colours and tonal schemes to show different aspects; this magazine has used a 5 tone colour scheme including text. They have used the white bold font for the main headings of the magazine as it introduced the articles and name of the whole magazine itself. They have interestingly also used contrasting colours to make sure that the newsletter looks professional and easy to read it also makes that part stand out considerably more compared to the blue and the yellow colour.
This magazine has decided to use two images from a low angle; this could be to show that the students who attend that school are comfortable with where they are and feel like they are prosperous students This could be something that I may utilize for my newsletter because it shows that the students are comfortable at that school as well as showing that the students who attend that school are prosperous and successful which puts over a positive message to the audience.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing
this product?
I have learnt a great deal of expertise and knowledge that will
help me in the future when making a media product of a similar kind. One of the
main aspects I have learnt is how to take an image on a SLR Digital Camera and
how the camera works in terms of zoom and putting the camera into focus. It was important to consider that the picture had to be good in order for me to manipulate or change aspects of the image in software such as 'Photoshop'. The brief asked us to make sure the school magazine included a medium close up shot on the front cover; when taking this into consideration I had to think about factors such as lighting; I decided to use artificial lighting as it made the image look a lot more professional it also took away any dark shadows that perhaps a natural light may have caused. Another reason I decided to use artificial lighting was because the image space I was taking was a lot smaller and much closer meaning that artificial lighting would have worked a lot more effectively as its a closer shot as apposed to a natural light source such as moonlight or the sun. When it came to producing and putting the school magazine together, the software I used were 'Photoshop' and 'Indesign' my reasons for this are because they are used by the media professionals of the industry today so it would hopefully benefit me and make my school magazine of a high quality. I used 'Photoshop' mainly for the removal of white backgrounds on certain images that were used in the School magazine; an example of removing a white background was when I had to take away the back ground on the school logo as it would make it look more professional and interesting than just having a plan white background. To do this task, I used the lasso tools and the magic wand tool, I used the magic wand tool to take away the white background on the logo as it would take a large sample of the image that I could take away. This made the process a lot more easier and time effective instead of trying to use the lasso tool for example which would of taking a lot more time to complete.
